Looking For The Best Stop Snoring Remedies?

By Jason McDrarren

Most people wouldn't be so concerned about their snoring problem if it weren't for the other people around them. No one wants to keep their spouse up night after night because of snoring. Luckily, snorers have many potential stop snoring remedies available. If you aren't using one yet, then you might want to consider trying one. After all, you don't want you marriage to fall apart just because you couldn't stop snoring.

A lot of people choose to use nasal sprays as their preferred snoring remedy. Sprays are very convenient. They are quick to use and they work right away. They are also extremely affordable when compared to other stop snoring remedies like surgery or many of the snoring contraptions available. However, sprays do have side effects and they shouldn't be used daily for a long period of time.

Nasal sprays are effective because they lubricate the throat and mouth. This makes it more difficult for vibrations to cause auditory snores. This is of course a temporary solution to snoring. As soon as you stop using nasal spray then your snoring symptoms will return.

Although nasal sprays don't provide a permanent solution, they are very useful for those that are suffering from temporary snoring. Temporary snoring can result from colds, allergies, or even changes in the weather. Drinking alcohol before bed can also cause a person to snore at night. It is good to have a stop snoring remedy around for these occasions.

Most snoring remedies deal with the vibrations caused while snoring. Other remedies approach the problem from different perspective and try to prevent snoring from occurring in the first place. This is often accomplished through the use of chin cushions or chin straps. Are you wondering how these could possibly be stop snoring remedies?

The fact is that most snorers only snore because their mouth is open. Breathing though the mouth is often the cause of snoring. When the mouth is open then our throat is more likely to vibrate as we breath. If we can simply breathe through our noses instead, then our snoring problems will be relieved.

While sleeping with the mouth open the jaw drops down. This allows the tongue to fall backward into the throat. When this happens then the throat is partially obstructed and the air being forced through the smaller opening causes the vibrations that can be so loud.

The chinstrap solves this problem by holding the mouth closed. It keeps the jaw from falling opening and so prevents a person from snoring altogether. The chin cushion works to keep the jaw closed too and has the added benefit of keeping the head from rolling forward while sleeping. This helps to maintain an unobstructed airway and makes it easier to breathe. Some people have fashioned similar stop snoring remedies out of tape. By taping the mouth closed, a person is forced to breathe out of the nose.

Taping the mouth closed can be uncomfortable. An alternative to this would be to use chin up strips. These are strips that are taped to the bottom of the mouth. They are supposed to encourage a person to breath through the noise. But unlike taping the mouth shut, it is still possible to breath through the mouth, cough, talk, etc. This makes them a more viable option for most people.

These are some of the more common stop snoring remedies on the market. Most people find that at least one of these methods will provide them with the relief they need. However, most aren't really a cure to snoring. They merely reduce or eliminate the symptoms of snoring. Permanent solutions can sometimes be achieve through the use of surgery. However, surgery should be a last resort and it must be considered carefully.
